What Is Initial RESEA?

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, “initial RESEA” refers to the first meeting between a RESEA service provider and an unemployment compensation claimant who reported to the meeting in response to notification of required participation in RESEA services. (RESEA is the Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment program.)

This initial RESEA is considered done when the following components are completed:

  •  An unemployment compensation eligibility review conducted on a one-on-one basis, including a work search activities review
  • Customized labor market and career information based on the claimant’s needs
  • Enrollment in Employment Services
  • Support in the development of an individual reemployment plan tailored to claimant needs
  • Information and referrals to additional reemployment services and resources
